2015 BMW R NineT

Bought to be enjoyed in the Santa Monica Mountains, and that is exactly how it's being used. I've wanted an R NineT since they were first released in 2014, and I am stoked to finally have one. While at a glance it doesn't seem too modified, this is a case where there is more than initially meets the eye.

The biggest improvement on the bike is the Alpina Carbon Tubeless wheels. On top of looking fantastic, these save a significant amount of unsprung weight front and rear by ditching the tubes the factory wheels require, on top of also being lighter. This results in a bike that leans in and out of corners with much more purpose, as well as is more responsive to braking and throttle input. 

The motor exhales through a full Akrapovic header back titanium exhaust system, including their high mount silencer.

 

There is an assortment of Rizoma parts on the bike, from the fully adjustable rear sets, handlebar and brake levers, mirrors, and even the fluid reservoirs. A Motogadget digital gauge hides where the factory gauges used to reside, really leaning into the naked styling and giving the illusion of a gauge free motorcycle. BMW HP Carbon fiber pieces replace the front fender and motor belt cover, and tie in with the carbon on the wheels and exhaust.

All of this adds up to a bike that is a joy to ride, with a ton of character from the signature BMW Boxer motor.
