2011 Mercedes G55 AMG

Well, I bought another 2011 G55 AMG, just got back to California with it and I couldn’t be more stoked. It feels like home to be back in an M113K powered W463 after selling my prior 2011 G55 last year. @aliewhittleand I decided to make the most of picking up the truck, which was located in Kansas City.

I had no idea I was buying this until a call with the owner Wednesday afternoon, and realizing I had to have it.

I don’t know what I did to deserve someone so down for my reckless car habits, as when I told Alie this, she didn’t question why on earth I was buying another G. Instead she just jumped right into planning mode finding hotels and dialing in our route. We hopped on a flight to Kansas City late Thursday night, did the deal in the morning and hit the road Friday afternoon after grabbing some BBQ.

We took the fun route home, picking cool places to stay and doing as much we could with a Monday afternoon deadline to be back. This took us through Boulder, Moab, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Las Vegas. We did the 2000 Mile drive in just over 3 days, so it was a fast but incredible trip. I could write a novel about how much we enjoyed the sightseeing along the way, but all I can say is please make sure you take the time to enjoy the National Parks in Utah and the surrounding areas, it’s absolutely incredible.

The truck did everything I asked of it, and never skipped a beat, just love these silly things. It’s gonna be my new daily, and will be replacing the 1996 G320 Europa, which is bittersweet. The G320 has been good to me since I’ve got it, and man do I love the state it’s currently in style wise, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss my prior G55, they are really special. In a perfect world I could justify keeping both.

The 2011 G55 AMG is my favorite US W463 variant, being the final year of the M113K 500 HP Supercharged V8, and prior to the floating iPad interior, but still getting the updated Heated/Ventilated seats and black suede headliner and pillars among other details. When I came across this example in Calcite White over Designo Porcelain White interior for a particularly good deal, it got me thinking, and here we are. Excited to make it my own, as you can imagine I’ve got plans for it.

I documented most of the trip in my stories, give my G55 II highlight a watch if you missed that, we had such an awesome time. I know this was a long one, just had so much I wanted to share and still am riding the high of the trip.

Buy the silly car and drive it back.
